The division is made up of four branches.

Branch 1: Youth Justice and Secure Accommodation Team covers secure accommodation, the Intensive Support Fund and electronic monitoring of under 16s through the Children’s Hearings system. It is also responsible for the implementation of national standards for youth justice, including services for victims and the communications strategy, the youth justice website and the Victim Information pilot.

Branch 2: Children’s Hearings Team supports the Children’s Hearings system including: sponsorship of the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA); recruitment and appointments to children’s panels; the appointment of Children’s Panel Advisory Committee (CPAC) members; the support and training of panel members, CPAC members and Safeguarders; administration of the Children’s Legal Representation Grants Scheme. It also leads on policy and legislation impacting on the Hearings system, eg ECHR issues.

Branch 3: The Getting it Right for Every Child Team leads the review of the Children’s Hearings System and supports work on developing an improved system for children’s services and the role of the Children’s Hearings system within that new structure. A Bill team has been put in place to develop legislation as required.

Branch 4: The Children's Hearings and Integrated Services Bill Team Responsible for delivery of the Children's Hearings and Integrated Services Bill; the Bill forms an important part of the strategy for taking forward improvement in the delivery of Children's Services and will also strengthen and streamline the Children's Hearings System.
